Table tennis techniques: proper footwork

For serious table tennis players, having the correct footwork is essential for obtaining the highest level of gameplay during a match. Footwork is a table tennis technique that has to be performed one way only, and that is the right way.

For a right-handed table tennis player that is going for a forehand swing, the left leg should be slightly in front of the right leg, so that if you have to return a ball to your backhand side you're already in position for a little side step or pivot if needed.

In table tennis footwork is everything, and not having the proper footwork to execute the desired shot can leave you unbalanced or all tangled up...not being able to return a ball and not getting the maximum power out of a drive.
