The 2008 U.S. Open Table Tennis championships or tournament that's being held in Las Vegas, Nevada is now past the halfway point. Official tournament play began at 9am this morning and I was there to sit back and observe all the players, but most importantly, I was there to support my brother (Topshot) who was also competing in the tournament.

If you're new to the sport of competitive table tennis, you should know that this table tennis tournament is one of the biggest table tennis tournaments in the United States. This year, 684 players were registered to compete in the 2008 U.S. Table Tennis Open. Those 700 players were able to choose from over 50 different events to enter. Events are based upon the players age, gender, and their table tennis skill level.

This morning at the Las Vegas U.S. Open, it was rather quiet with many younger table tennis players owning the playing floor. The last day of the tournament, which is Saturday July 5, 2008, will be a different story. Expect plenty of excitement and a high intensity level as players move towards the finals. I plan on making it to the semi-finals and finals on Saturday to watch the best of the best.
